About Rivendell
Founder
I grew up in Estonia and started my career in deep-learning research. Before Rivendell, I worked in product at Google, built Mirage, Acapela, and Commonbase, and invested at Lightbird.
I also worked as an insurance broker. I saw how the machine bills teams, and how little of that complexity helps the people using the plan.
I started Rivendell after trying to buy premium health benefits for my own team. No matter where I looked, I could not find a premium health plan that was simple enough to trust and good enough to be proud of.
After moving to San Francisco, I hit the same wall every European founder hits. Nobody could tell me what anything cost or who to call.
Rivendell is the plan I wanted. You never had to think about this at home. With Rivendell, you still don’t.
The name
In Tolkien, Rivendell is the last homely house. It is the sanctuary where the wounded heal and where travelers regroup, resupply, and get honest counsel before setting out on something difficult.
That is the job. Your team is doing the hard part. Health care should be the place they get looked after and sent back out, not another thing they have to fight.
